“Did they continue to smoke?”
“Yes.”
“Did you notice an addiction?”
“Yes.”
I asked, “How long did it take before they liked to smoke?”
“Probably a week or two. “Really?”
I reached for one of my cameras and said, “Yes. I recorded her smoking and stared, forgetting to ask my questions until she put it out and lit another. I barely noticed her long dark hair, red dress, or the shape of her body. “No problem.”
I did the usual two interviews at her house with her mother in the next room. Thankfully, I didn’t need to worry about loans or grants to fund my education and research.
